About Network Video Storage
For large sites, Videoline's enterprise video storage records up to 512 IP cameras on one unit, with up to 1536 Mbps of incoming bandwidth. The VH5016S holds 16 hot-swap SAS hard drives and the VH5024S holds 24, protected by RAID levels from 0 to 60 with a hot spare, and both have redundant power. Standard iSCSI and Mini SAS connections add storage as a system grows.
Questions about Network Video Storage
When do I need enterprise video storage instead of an NVR?
Choose enterprise video storage when a site has more cameras than an NVR can take: Videoline's largest NVRs record 64 IP cameras, while the VH5016S and VH5024S record up to 512. They also take up to 1536 Mbps of incoming video against an NVR's 320 Mbps, and protect recordings with RAID and redundant power.
What is RAID, and which RAID levels does Videoline's video storage support?
RAID combines several hard drives into one pool of storage, and most RAID levels keep recordings intact when a drive fails. The VH5016S and VH5024S support RAID 0, 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 and JBOD, with a hot spare that takes over from a failed drive, and their SAS drives hot-swap.
What is the difference between the VH5016S and the VH5024S?
Their specifications differ only in drive count: the VH5016S holds 16 hot-swap SAS hard drives and the VH5024S holds 24. Both have a 64-bit Intel processor, record up to 512 IP cameras with 1536 Mbps of incoming bandwidth, have redundant power, and connect over iSCSI and Mini SAS to add storage as a system grows.
