About HD Standalone DVR
A DVR (digital video recorder) records CCTV cameras connected by coaxial cable. Videoline's standalone DVRs are hybrids: depending on the model they record HDCVI, AHD, TVI and analog cameras, and IP cameras as well, so old and new cameras can share one recorder. They come in 4, 8 and 16 channels, from mini 1U units with one hard drive to a 2U recorder with eight, with HDMI and VGA output and live view and playback through a web browser, CMS software or a mobile app. Newer models compress in H.265, and the 1.5U and 2U models add face detection, head counting and smart search.
Questions about HD Standalone DVR
What is an XVR, and how is it different from a Trio DVR?
Both are Videoline hybrid DVRs that record coaxial and IP cameras on one recorder; they differ in the camera formats they take. The Trio DVRs, such as the VH9108-HCD, record analog, HDCVI and IP cameras. The XVRs record those too, and the Mini 1U, 1.5U and 2U XVRs add AHD and TVI.
Which Videoline DVR should I choose for 16 cameras?
Videoline's 16-channel DVRs differ mainly in how many hard drives they hold and what analytics they run. The VH9116-HCD and VH2116-HCD hold one drive and the VH2216-HCD two. The 1.5U VH2416-HCD holds four and the 2U VH2816-HCD eight, and both add face detection, head counting and smart search.
How do I copy footage off a DVR?
Copy it to a USB device plugged into the recorder, or download it over the network; every Videoline DVR supports both. The 1U models have two USB 2.0 ports, and the 1.5U and 2U models four USB 2.0/3.0 ports. Recordings can also be played back remotely in a web browser, on CMS software or in the mobile app.
Can a DVR alert me when something happens?
Yes: every Videoline DVR can answer an alarm with an on-screen message, a buzzer, a PTZ camera move, an email or an FTP upload. The 1U models detect motion, a blanked camera and lost video, and the 1.5U and 2U models run video analytics, with face detection, head counting and smart search.
